Working out expected points...

How the picks work

Expected points follow FPL's own scoring for this season. For every fixture: how much each player plays (recent and season-long minutes, and FPL's injury and suspension news), his expected goals and assists per 90, scaled by how many goals PitchIQ's match model expects his club to score that day, his club's chance of a clean sheet, saves, bonus, defensive-contribution points and cards. Small samples lean on what similar players at the same price usually do.

Teams are picked by an exact optimiser, not a rule of thumb: the 15 players, starting XI and captain with the most expected points within the budget, FPL's formation rules and at most 3 per club. For your team, a transfer beyond your free ones costs 4 points, so a hit is only suggested when it pays back over the weeks you plan for, and using a free transfer has to beat saving it.
